What is SD-WAN?
SD-WAN is an acronym for software-defined networking in a Wide Area Network. An SD-WAN simplifies the management and operation of a WAN by separating the networking hardware from its control mechanism. This represents a simplified and cost-effective way to WAN enriched by many other features such as resilience, security and quality of service (QoS), flexible deployment, simplified administration and troubleshooting. Many of the concepts underpinning SD-WAN (such as encryption, bonding, path control, overlay networks and subscription-based pricing) are not new. However, SD-WAN essentially wraps these technologies together, and presents them to enterprises as a new integrated offering. The use of SD-WAN technologies have seen a pretty dramatic up pick so that American marketing research and advisory firm Gartner predicted in 2015 that by the end of 2019 30% of enterprises will deploy SD-WAN technology in their branches.
The technical side:
XCommNet’s Software Defined WAN allows companies to build highly agile WAN solutions to augment or replace expensive private connection such as MPLS. We achieve this by leveraging any available WAN technologies, including broadband and 4G, from different Internet providers and use them intelligently to suit your application needs: greater bandwidth, lower latency, guaranteed delivery, higher security, greater resilience, cost effectiveness and so forth. Our SD-WAN technology is incredibly easy to deploy and to manage with a great variety of physical or virtual appliances to be placed in small remote and branch offices, larger offices, corporate data centres, and on cloud platforms.
Why XCommNet?
XCommNet has been deploying SD-WAN solutions for years. We use Viprinet technologies which are tested, proven, reliable, and come fully loaded with many features.
