The MultiAMP Combiner increases the quality of sending and receiving 3G/UMTS mobile radio signals. The device is interconnected between four UMTS/HSPA+ modules maximum in Viprinet Multichannel VPN Routers and one mobile radio antenna, and is able to compensate for distances of up to 23 m between router and antenna without any signal loss. To avoid signal confusion, it is recommended to use SIM cards of four different mobile phone providers. In addition, the device concentrates mobile radio signals on one antenna output, so the entire installation only needs one antenna. The MultiAMP Combiner is connected to up to four antenna outputs of the UMTS/HSPA+ modules in a Multichannel VPN Router. The signal is increased to such an extent that signal loss on a cable between router and MultiAMP Combiner is totally balanced. However, signal loss occurring behind the antenna output is not compensated. The amplified signals are then concentrated on one antenna output by a combiner level, and sent to a standard mobile radio antenna via another cable which should be as short as possible due to signal loss. In receiving direction, the mobile radio signals are filtered first, then amplified, and at last sent to the respective UMTS/HSPA+ module. Here, too, only signal loss on the cable between MultiAMP combiner and router is compensated. This device is an asset in all cases where greater distances between antenna and router have to be bridged. These distances often occur when antennas are installed in sight of a radio cell to optimize transmission and reception performance. The MultiAMP Combiner increases signal strength in buildings as well as in vehicles. Due to its solid metal frame of small dimensions, it can be installed everywhere.
Important information
To avoid disturbance of mobile phone services or damages to the device, the MultiAMP Combiner may only be operated with Viprinet Multichannel VPN Routers and the following special cables sold by Viprinet:
30-00401: 4x 0.75 m antenna cable with attenuator for compact setups,
30-00402: 4x 8.5 m RG58 cable, or
30-00403: 2x 18 m low-loss twin cable.
Due to the same reason, 3–4 mobile phone signals have to be combined. Because of that, it is necessary either to connect all inputs to a UMTS antenna output of a Multichannel VPN Router or to terminate one input with a resistor.
WARNING: The maximum input levels are to be observed at all times, as disturbance of mobile phone services as well as destruction of the device can occur otherwise!
